Earth Hour

Posted on - March 29th, 2012

Benwick has had some luck in the national competitions yet again. This time, we were a runner up in a competition to lead “Earth Hour” by the WWF

From the Fenland Citizen:

BENWICK’s Five Alls will be in the dark on Saturday night as part of an international awareness event organised by the WWF.

The Fenland village was runner-up in a community competition run by the charity after being entered by competitions queen Emily Shepperson – the same person who won a fun afternoon for the village from Oasis drinks.

Hundreds of millions of people will be turning off their lights for one hour, on the same night, all across the planet.

The Five Alls will be leading the charge in Benwick at 8.30pm by turning off its lights. There will be a torch-lit sing-a-long with a piano player and free food during the hour.

As runner-up in the competition, Benwick was given £300 by the sponsors, More Th>n, to make the evening extra-special.

So head along to the Five Alls in Benwick for 8.30pm – and bring your torch!
