1) Why would people of Benwick know you?

I have lived in Benwick now for 14 years coming here to join my daughter who is now the licensee of the Five Alls.  Because of her I know far more people as she has introduced me around.  I also met many ladies due to joining the darts team when Tom Granger was the publican.

2) What is your earliest memory of Benwick?

The wonderful fete’s and parades that we had the first two or three summers I was here and also the W.I.’s show that was held in the village hall each year.

3) Favourite Band / Singer?

I am afraid that I am a classicist and prefer Beethoven and Mozart although I did like the

music of Cliff Richards many moons ago.
4) Marmite: Love it or Hate It?

I like Marmite but prefer Bovril as it is easier to spread and not quite as strong as Marmite.

5) What do you like to do in your spare time?

I will be in my last year of studying for a Degree with the Open University next year my final year subject being ‘Religion in History’.  I also do a lot of sewing and reading when I get the time.

6) What is the last book you read?

‘In at the Death’ by David Wishart which is a mystery murder novel set in Ancient Rome; another love of mine; Classical Rome.

7) Favourite holiday destination?

Australia to visit my two eldest children who stayed there when I left after living 10 years in Adelaide, A beautiful country but it gets a little too hot in February.

8) What is your favourite hobby?

My favourite is sitting reading or sewing when I can find the time.

9) What is your favourite thing about Benwick?

The quiet and peaceful life one can get by living in the village and the friendliness of the local residents.

10) What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

I would like my own house in the village with a large garden.

11) What made you stand for Parish Council?

A wish to put back into the village some of the pleasures that had been here when I first arrived such as the fete’s and parades.

12) Where is the worst place you have lived?

When I returned from Australia we bought a house in Medan Vale near Mansfield, not realising that we backed onto Welbeck Colliery and the coal dust was awful; you prayed for rain just to wash the dust away.

13) If you had £500 to give to charity - who would you give it to and why?

This is a hard one to answer.  Having had breast cancer, as have many women in the village, this would be the first to come to mind and also, of course, the Village Hall.

14) What item could you not live without and why?

My Car!  I love driving and have driven to both Reims and Normandy in France and many times up to Scotland and back.  If I lose the ability to drive I will be lost especially in this village with its dreadful bus service.

15) Why did you want to be on the Village Hall Committee?

Again, I wanted to do something to help.  I like organising events and thought I could help out on the committee; the more I have to do the more I get done.

16) Tea or Coffee?

Coffee definitely; far more flavour for me.

17) What made you move to Benwick?

My husband became seriously ill and wouldn’t have anyone near him except myself and my daughter Gina.   Gina applied to the council for a home for us near her and we were given one on medical points exactly 6 months to the day after applying.

18) What was the last thing you bought?

Other than food I recently bought a lot of material for a quilt I am making.  Called a Quillo it is a cushion during the day but when it gets chilly you take out the quilt from inside and wrap yourself in it.

19) Favourite Cereal?

I suppose I am the same as a great many people here…..Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes but I do enjoy a good plate of porridge as well

20) What would you like to be remembered for?

Another hard one, better answered by people that will hopefully remember me but perhaps my battling nature and hopefully being a friend to all.
