Alan Wilkinson:

I lived on the outskirts of Benwick, Keyworth house farm, going to the local school, my sister was married in the local church, I left when I married in 1971, Up to then I cycled to Peterborough to work every day some times grabbing a tow from Oliver's beet wagons those straight roads  were always head wind going and coming home it seemed. They held an annual sports day back then and the annual feast when the fair came outside the top house.

Brian Shaw:

Essentially in the 40s and 50s, life in the village still revolved around farming and agriculture and after college in the 1960s I was one of the early commuters when I moved back with my parents and commuted to Peterborough every day. In those days you could count the number of commuters on the fingers of one hand! I have fond memories of my boyhood in Benwick.

Anita Davies:

Butterflies, dragonflies, birds, ducks, fish, insects are all in abundance here and the turquoise flash of a kingfisher can often be seen soaring along the bank. It is peaceful, calming and excellent therapy! Visiting the river at Benwick always makes me feel refreshed and grounded, like a secretary it seems to file all the mixed up paperwork in my head and like a tonic it lifts me. I certainly feel more able to tackle what the world throws at me after a visit to this beautiful spot along the Nene! I often take my younger Son Harry here to feed the ducks, they are most attentive and very comfortable with human presence. We also walk the dogs here at times through the summer. In distance, it isn't a very long walk but you can spend hours here lost in the natural display that greets you.

Stanley Whitaker:

I thought you'd like my memories of the late 50's and 60's scene in Benwick. Needless to say there wasn't a lot going on, except the odd music evening which me and my pals used to attend; especially at The Bell Inn; The Spinning Wheel! Me and my friend 'Scabby' Shelton, among others used to go to the monthly club. I don't know if any of your readers remember the regular performances of Roy 'Twang' Carr, who fancied himself as a cross between Duane Eddy and Elvis Presley; he actually sounded like Cilla Black! I'm sure your readers must recall him We enjoyed ourselves though. More often or not we used to go to Ramsey or Peterborough. One of our friends, simply known as  'B' (although his real name was Barry used to have a wreck of a bike, which he used to think was a Harley Davison. We used to tease him calling it the 'B' Harley Mower. I'm sure he must remember. I moved to the metropolis (Peterborough) in the 1970's, but I still look back on my days in Benwick with great fondness. As the song goes...Those were the days!
