Twenty Questions - Ian Kennington

1) Why would people of Benwick know you?

Father of Stuart, Philippa, Joel and Rhianna and for my sins I am the Scout Leader, a founding member of the League of Gentleman and a supporter of the Five Alls.

2) What is your earliest memory of Benwick?

Sitting in our lounge the first weekend we moved in and hearing only 8 cars go up the High Street all that evening.

3) Favourite Band / Singer?

I like a mix of music but currently play Duffy in the car.

4) Marmite: Love it or Hate It?

Love it especially under melted cheese on toast.

5) What do you like to do in your spare time?

What’s that! Our kids fill any time I get.

6) What is the last book you read?

Lords of the Bow, a historical novel based on Genghis Kahn by Conn Iggulden .

7) Favourite holiday destination?

Valencia, Spain.

8) What is your favourite hobby?

Socialising with friends.

9) What is your favourite thing about Benwick?

The welcome the family got when we moved in and the ease with which we became part of the community.

10) What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

A new car for my wife.

11) What made you get involved with the scouts?

I was in Scouts myself and met my wife, Drom, through Scouts. Now the kids are involved and I wanted to give something back.

12) Where is the worst place you have lived?

Everywhere I have lived has different memories so couldn’t say I have a worst place. My least favourite would be RAF Henlow as a kid.

13) If you had £500 to give to charity - who would you give it to and why?

I would give it to Askham Place, which does such a phenomenal job at supporting individuals less fortunate than ourselves, to do something special for the residents.

14) What could you not live without and why?

Our four kids, they give me stress but also lift me.

15) Do you think Benwick has any problems, if so what are they?

I wish there was more support for Village Events and clubs. It would be good to get more people involved. We all live here for a reason and we are all Villagers together, our community is what we put into it.

16) Tea or Coffee?

Tea, and not the Earl Grey type, good old breakfast tea.

17) List 5 things that most annoy you?

  1. Waste;
  2. Not enough being done for greener power;

Red noses for our cars.
