Twenty Questions - Rob Taylor

1) Why would people of Benwick know you?

I have been a Village Hall committee member, a Parish Councillor and the creator of the “Benwick” web site. My children grew up in Benwick and I met many parents with children of a similar age. I frequent the Five Alls and meet many people there that I consider friends. To know people in Benwick you have to make the effort to go and meet them.

2) What is your earliest memory of Benwick?

January 1991 when I visited my present house when the owners were trying to sell it. I fell in love with the village that cold wet winter night.

3) Favourite Band / Singer?

I can’t say one favourite band as I regularly listen to many but I would put Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin at the top somewhere.

4) Marmite: Love it or Hate It?

Love it

5) What do you like to do in your spare time?

Photography, play in a three piece blues band called the “Fenboy 3”. Our website is at www.fenboy3.co.uk. I also work hard on the Benwick web site.

6) What is the last book you read?

Dr Stephen Hawkins - A brief history of time. Don’t get much time for reading nowadays. a

7) Favourite holiday destination?

Cyprus

8) What is your favourite hobby?

Having a pint in The Five Alls

9) What is your favourite thing about Benwick?

The people, (and sometimes it’s the least favourite).

10) What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

A new laptop!

11) What made you create www.benwick.com?

I wanted people to see what Benwick is all about. To some extent this has proved successful as I receive emails from New Zealand to the far west of America from people who have a connection with the village.

12) Where is the worst place you have lived?

This is a difficult question to answer as wherever you live can be made pleasant by doing something positive and making the most out of it. If I had to give a place I would say Saudi Arabia but only for the political difficulties of living there.

13) If you had £500 to give to charity - who would you give it to and why?

Probably a cancer charity. So many people suffer and lose their fight to this dreaded disease.

14) What item could you not live without and why?

My wife. She is like my right arm.

15) Do you think Benwick has any major problems, if so what are they?

Benwick does not suffer any major problems, just issues between people who don’t want to get on, for whatever reason. In this sense it is no different to any other place in the world and it would be a boring place if everyone got on all the time. Communication is the answer to a lot of village problems and the ability to see things from different perspectives.

16) Tea or Coffee?

Tea with digestive biscuits dunked in it.

17) What do you think of www.lilyholtroad.co.uk?

Admirable. It could do with a little more effort on making it work better in browsers other than Internet Explorer. The content is there which is what people visit it for in the first place.

18) What was the last thing you bought?

Bristol City home shirt for this season.

19) Favourite Breakfeast cereal?

I don’t generally have breakfast but when I Do I have a fried one. Can’t be doing with all this so called “healthy” cereals as they are usually full of sugar

20) What would you like to be remembered for?

Something positive I have done.
