Benwick Village Hall

hall7

Benwick Village Hall was built in 1988; it was brought and paid for by the people of Benwick and is located next to the school on the High Street.

The Village Hall is built on land owned by the LEA; it was given to the village on a 125 year lease for a peppercorn rent. The previous site of the Village Hall was across the road near the old Pack Horse Pub and before then was near the river but that was demolished for Whittlesey Road to be built.

The Village Hall was registered as a charity on December 22nd 1987 and is ran by a committee; but the custodial trustees are Benwick Parish Council. The committee currently consists of 8 members all of which are trustees to the charity.

The Village Hall is used by many of the Village groups; the school use it for PE and school plays, the Sunday Service is held there each week; and groups such as the Scouts use it weekly. Parish Council and Village Hall Committee meetings are also held in the village hall once a month.
